CLT Joint Workshop: Advancing Liberal Education Values: A Focus on Gender-Sensitive Teaching and Course Development

A liberal education fosters not only a broad range of knowledge and well-honed critical and creative thinking skills, but also values to live by including integrity, civic engagement, and respect for the equality and dignity of all. But these are areas that are harder to define and to deliberately instill in students. Each workshop in this series highlights a Liberal Arts value and engages faculty in definition, analysis, and discussion.

This workshop focuses on developing gender-sensitive teaching and course development as part of respect for the equality and dignity of all. The workshop is open to faculty from all disciplines who want to learn how to create a classroom atmosphere that supports gender equality as well as integrating gender into a current course they are teaching. The goal of the workshop is to create a truly interdisciplinary gender studies curriculum at AUC by involving a broad range of disciplines in the course and curriculum development.
