“The UK Parliament will shortly be debating The National Security and Investment Bill which would lead to the government’s review of UK companies being acquired by companies located outside the UK.
John Fingleton will be providing his perspective on the National Security and Investment Bill and this will be accompanied by a conversation with David Petrie and a short Q&A from the audience.
John Fingleton was Chief Executive of the Office of Fair Trading from 2005 to 2012, having previously run the Irish Competition Authority. In government, he oversaw merger regulation, enforcement of competition rules, consumer protection, and credit regulation.
David leads ICAEW’s public policy engagement, including, most recently, on the UK’s National Security & Investment Bill. In December 2020, he gave evidence on behalf of ICAEW to the Public Bill Committee. David is an experienced corporate financier. Formerly with PwC, he has advised on numerous deals, from smaller buyouts to large capital markets transactions, as well as infrastructure projects and complex outsourcing contracts.”
